New Music First #8

its that new super hovercraft new music vessel thing

ok…so it’s been over a month since I’ve done one of these posts…it’s not that i haven’t had any good music going lately…it’s moreso to do with the fact that I got too much good new music going! This post is a bit of a mish mash across genres but hopefully you like all. All are either from some of the new albums I’ve recently purchased or are things i’ve been sent.

and without further adoo (is that how you spell that??!!):

K.I.T – Animal

Got sent this one last week and have been meaning to post it. Is a great little electro track from three guys from Paris. I really like it. There’s something kinda familiar about this song which I really like. Check ’em out on MySpace

Tiga – Shoes

My recent post about the Leave Them All Behind III compilation talked about my new found admiration for Tiga. Go get his album Ciao! It’s bloody great. You can check out more Tiga on his MySpace or on Beatport

JET – 17

yeah yeah…i know. JET were cool for about 15 minutes when their debut album came out. And there was the much publicised fights etc etc etc. oh, and their second album tanked pretty bad. But their newy, Shaka Rock is pretty good. It’s not amazing, but it’s a good solid rock record from a pretty good Australian band. Good song too. MySpace iTunes

The Hovercrafts – Texas High

Don’t know who these dudes are? Neither did I until I heard 2009 on Triple J the other week. You should check out The Parapets EP…the band has made it available as a free download…and you can get it here. Really good Melbourne based Rock ‘n’ Roll. Niiiccceee! Also check out their MySpace

Paul Dempsey – Out The Airlock

I used to love Something For Kate when they were big (Monsters, Three Dimensions etc). Everything Is New is his first solo record…and it’s pretty good. Once again, have to thank 2009 on Triple J for the heads up on this one! It’s a bit different to S4K stuff – more singer/songwritery. Good though! Out The Airlock is one of the softer moments of the album. MySpace iTunes

So that’s it. Bit of electro goodness and a bit of good Aussie rocky stuff. Enjoy eh??!!

K. That’ll do the ramble for now.

  1. I actually like Paul Dempsy’s solo stuff more than something for kate. I was pretty young when when SFK were at their peak though, I think I’ll have to give them another listen

    Hey Lauren,
I suppose I liked S4K back in the day because they sounded a bit different to other bands. They used different time signatures which I always thought was pretty cool. I spoke about them a bit in a post I did a while ago: https://meandallmyfriends.wordpress.com/2009/06/06/those-old-school-sounds/
