New jam from Bitch Prefect makes me feel all melancholy and stuff. With a clip that really suits the style of the song, it just kills me. ‘Better Next Time’ is the b-side to the dude’s new 7″ for their ace track ‘Adelaide’. Both tracks are taken off the bands new album Bird Nerds, although apparently that won’t be out for quite some time yet.
Anyway, enjoy the clip. It features the beautiful Footscray (near where I grew up!).
Also got a stream of the a-side ‘Adelaide’.
Really great slacker pop track from Brisbane lads Dune Rats. It comes in at just less than 2 mins and I think the title is pretty apt. Just a quick track about some chick or somethin’. Love the layed back whatever goes attitude that these guys have.
The guys are nearly out on tour to help launch ‘Fuck It’ – deets after the jump. Single will also be up on iTunes on Monday.
Perhaps the best thing about being a music blogger is discovering new music that is local. Melbourne dudes Pageants are set to release their debut LP in March entitled Dark Before Blonde Dawn through killer Melbourne label Sensory Projects. If first cut Pleasure Perched In The Parlour Palms (say that 10 times quickly) is anything to go by, then we like.
It has the same quality Twerps bring to their music – it sounds like a few mates messing around. The album has been recorded with Jack Farley who’s also worked with Twerps, St Helens and Beaches. Set to be a goody.
yikes. Some pretty fun slacker pop to close your Sunday.
Magic Beans from Melbourne band Jonesez is one of those fun fast 2 and a half min tracks that you can lose your shit to. Go freakin nuts in your living room jumping around like a maniac.
The track is taken from their 2nd LP Gruffalo. If you know anything about these guys, you would definitely know the story of lead singer Mark Stewart giving his body to science in order to fund the bands 2nd album. Check out the band’s blog for a bit of a rundown on what the experience entailed.

Yep. You read right. King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard is the name that these 7 Carlton boys go by. Featuring some of the guys from fellow Melbourne guys, and new maamf faves Love Migrate, they sounds pretty different, showcasing a bit more of a DIY guitar sound (think bands like Boomgates, The Twerps etc). It’s kinda a slacker version of surf punk.
Anywho, the guys have a track out, Black Tooth which the PR guys say “is two minutes and thirty seconds of music to rob banks to”. Ha. What an apt description. This is a really decent track, complete with a we’ll do it our way attitude.
To help celebrate the release of the new single, they’ve got a bit of an east coast tour happening. Check out the dates after the stream.
