PILLOES

I know absolutely nothing about this guy, apart from the fact that he’s from Sydney, his real name is Marcus Solomon and he has one track out called Holmes that works!

If vocal layering and some beats are your thing, then Pilloes might be your man. His track Holmes starts off with some vocals, continuously layered upon. You think this is the melody, but then a new voice comes across, on top of it all with the melody. Then some beats hit you and man, the continuous building of layers in this track is done really really well.

Like!

You can find Pilloes on Triple J Unearthed…and that’s all I think. Keeping the mystery going. I do hope we hear more from this fella though.

Oscar + Martin

Oscar + Martin

Beautiful. The sound, the feeling, the voice. It’s all just lovely. It’s like these guys know everything that could go into a song, then pick the bare minimum to evoke the exact sound and mood they desire. The voice is mesmerising, and the melodies haunt you for days afterwards. Recognise is my favourite I think because of the excellent staccato beat but I also really love Oyster…

Oscar + Martin – Oyster

Oscar + Martin are part of the stellar line up for Meredith in December. I’m definitely going to make a point of being in the amphitheatre for these Melbourne kids.

GUERRE

Guerre. This is a name I’ve heard a bit, namely from the excellent To & Fro as well as the equally excellent Sound Lab. It was only until I checked out the very good rose quartz blog that it all clicked.

Guerre do some almost soul style beaty atmospheric kinda stuff. Big track that people might know is Millennium Blues which we got streaming below. You should also make sure you check out the EP though, Darker My Love – grab it over on the Yes Please Records bandcamp.

This is some rather excellent stuff for a night in. or a Sunday morning. It be a win win for me.

We got Millennium Blues and Transnautica from the Darker My Love EP down below as streams. YES!
