I loved the original version of this track when it came out – was one of those tracks that opened up my eyes to electronic music.

Now Sydney fellas New Navy have done a cover of it…and it’s actually really fucking good! Done in colab for their label Future Classic and clothing giant Le Coq Sportif.

ok, so every Friday morning, Triple J have a thing called Like A Version where they get an artist to come in and play an original track as well as a cover. Kimbra was in last Friday and produced a rather spesh mashup of Grizzly Bear’s Two Weeks and Head Over Heels by Tears For Fears.

It’s amazeballs. Kimbra works that sampler/loop machine so freakin well. Got a clip of her performing on Rockwiz a litle while back just so you can check her out in action.

You can stream the track below…and make sure you check out the full interview complete with both tracks (she did Two Way Street as her original) over on the Like A Version page.

is my mind a hip hop mind?

Illywell? is it? haha…i found this the other day. Comes from Triple J’s Like A Version session and it’s a bit of Aussie Hip Hop. For those of you who are a bit unaware, Like A Version just get’s in artists every week to play an original and a cover. Flaming Lips covered Madonna and Kylie a few weeks ago. Phoenix were in the other week and did a cover of a track they actually co-wrote, AIR’s Playground Love.

So yeah, young Melbourne based MC Illy came in on Friday and it was pretty darn good. He did an acoustic version of his original track Pictures which is a bit of a Triple J hit (kind of because it’s Aussie Hip Hop and anyone who listens to the J’s here will know that Aussie Hip Hop features in about 50% of their playlist (well…might be an exageration…just a little…)).

Anyway, when you see the name of this track you’re gonna think what the hell. But when you hear it, pretty sure you’ll be amazed. He covers The Pixies track Where Is My Mind. He also fuses a whole heap of famous Oz Hip Hop lines from Hilltop Hoods, Seth Sentry, Phrase, Bliss ‘n’ Esso and a few others.

Anyway, here’s the track. Is bloody good.

Check him out on MySpace as well as his album Long Story Short on iTunes.

K. That’ll do the ramble for now.
