BEARHUG.
I’ve said it before on maamf, and no doubt i’ll say it a gazillion more times. I love good guitar driven local indie pop. There’s a beauty in the simplicity of it all, and in the familiarity of it all. Sydney gents Bearhug do this very well. So much so that this isn’t the first time I’ve written about the boys.
The new single is called Angeline and it’s off their debut long player due out early next year through Spunk records. It’s a bit more of a produced sounding track if you compare it to their earlier, rather lo-fi tracks Grapefruit and Fiery Stars. Almost reminds me of the debut Ernest Ellis record. I like this track a lot and am supes looking forward to their debut.

Bearhug. 5 boys out of Sydneytown doing some pretty sweet indie guitar pop. Great, well written pop songs.
The guys have just signed to Spunk and have been on tour with indie darlings Broken Social Scene and are about to support maamf faves Philly Jays as well as Built To Spill (check out the deets on their MySpace. You can also grab tix to some of the gigs via the maamf posse strore).
We’ve got two tracks from the fellas taken from their recently released EP To Anything (iTunes). Enjoy, and expect some big stuff from these guys.
