donkey kong suicide

It’s not often that I find I can title a post with the name of the song. Usually I try and go for some crazy line (or…umm…stupid tryhard line) that has something to do with the artist and/or track, but the name of this track is too good.

The guys are called The Melodics and they’re a local Melbourne crew. The sound is half Hip-Hop, half synth pop. Sound like Bluejuice but with actual MC’s instead of dudes shouting vocals (I LOVE Bluejuice btw). The guys have a new EP entitled Paint Me Gold coming out in October. It’s a four track EP full of four Singles. In their words: “Fuck off an album; write four singles, take them to a bunch of diverse and innovative producers, put them on a disc and call it an EP.”

Like that Fuck Off attitude. Anyway, the first single from the EP is called Donkey Kong Suicide, and is inspired by lead MC Jeremedy killing Donkey Kong by making him jump off the platform on an oldschool 80’s console version of the game. It’s a killer song, massive grower.
