RAION + VANOI.

Ok, so I follow a few other local bloggers on facebook and came across a track posted by the pretty decent adamNOTeve from two guys, Raion and VanOi. Called ‘Zosma’, it’s full of everything. This is a track that manages to remain consistent the whole way throughout, but still gives you the feeling that you’ve heard perhaps 4 or 5 tracks in one.

It’s bass heavy and perhaps even a little dubsteppy (and no, we don’t usually post dubstep/bass music). But man, this is really fucking cool. I also know that VanOi is only 16 – not sure how old Raion is, but man, to be producing such funk driven stuff at that age, pretty much in the bag.

ALAN WILKIS + FENECH SOLER

Alan Wilkis. Longtime readers of maamf should be familiar with this dudes work. Percussive heavy producer who just manages to change a track enough to make it his own. And a big maamf crush.

He’s had his way with Fenech Soler’s track Demons and, like usual, has percussed it up. He’s also got a bit of a dubstep feel going with this one (not big fat doomy dubstep, but in terms of the groove, it’s a bit dubstep).

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this remix is the fact that it’s not as bright and party song as his earlier remixes. I dig this heaps. A man gotta diversify. And diversify he does.

This is a bit of an official remix too – you can order a limited edition 10″ vinyl of the Demons single complete with the Wilkis remix and a remix from Jokers of The Scene. You can check that out here.

Sometimes my itunes playlist will go off on a tangent.

We get sent some pretty diverse stuff…and whilst I don’t think we’ve posted any dubstep sorta stuff, never say never.

There’s a bar in the city called Workshop who only seems to ever play dubstep. DJs always got some really crazy stuff going on…and i think i might like it!

Which brings me to Clever Bunny. These guys push the dub boundaries a bit I must add. They’ve almost got a bit of a reggae/jazz/hip hop feel to them, especially with some of the drum grooves. They cite a pretty eclectic list of influences: James Blake, Caribou, Loops Haunt.

The guys have a new album coming out soon called See Thru Pill. Below, you can check out two of the tracks below.
