no piano lessons
the title for this post might be a bit of a long shot. But when I was a little fella I learnt piano. One of the methods that they taught us all those years ago was the Suzuki method. It’s got nothing at all to do with learning to play fast like the bike…but it was all about learning by ear. Learning how to read music came much later. Anyway, I didn’t learn this method. I learnt the AMEB method. And you know what? You’re probably really super bored by now.
There’s a band called The Suzukis. They’re a four-piece from a place called Wigan which, from what i’m told is northern England. They probably all learnt to play by ear. But all good musos are like that. They don’t use piano either (the attempt at drawing a link to Suzuki piano method was a long shot, i know.)
They do this in your face, very British sounding punk rock. But good, riff driven punk. Shouty lyrics. Makes you want to get away from your computer/phone and jump around like a maniac for a bit. A few people are saying that these guys may just reinvigorate your love of good ol’ rock’n'roll. I reckon they’ve got a pretty good chance.
Anyway, they’re launching their single, Built In on Monday 22nd March with a free gig. So, if you’re over in the UK, head over to Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, which is at 2-4 Hoxton Square in London. Starts at 8.
Check out Built In just below, and if you like what you hear, keep your ears peeled for their debut LP coming out sometime in May.
