Thao with The Get Down Stay Down. Pretty cool name for a band me thinks. The band comes out of NYC and actually do consist of a young las by the name of Thao, and some dudes, two to be precise. The guys released a record back in 2008, the ever intriguingly titled “We Brave Bee Stings And All”, and are set to release their second LP “Know Better Learn Faster” in the next few months (US kids can already get it digitally via iTunes). When We Swam is the first cut off the album and has this great indie swagger about it. Something almost Yves Klein Blue-ish about it.

The guys have linked up with their mate Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Spoon) to produce the album, and after sampling some of them on the iTunes store, it sounds like it’s a pretty fun affair. Hand claps a plenty and some great use of strings. Just wish I had access to the US iTunes store!!!
