escape plan

The Kissaway Trail are out of Denmark. You may have heard about them before – they released a self-titled album in 2007 and they’ve done a bit of touring, playing with some pretty big bands like Editors, Passion Pit and Sigur Ros. Their second LP Sleep Mountain comes out on April 6th and is out on Bella Union in the UK (not sure about an Australian release date or what label their going through but will keep you posted.)

Anyway, the guys have this really big massive sound. They’ve got this dual singer thing going on which makes them sound sort of mysterious. But then they’ve also got these really kinda bright synths that give them this big, great sounding sound. (if that makes any sense.)

The lead single SDP is something pretty decent. Starts off as this rocky kinda track but it has those bells. Those bells bring it up to something more. The bell motif is continued right throughout and it just kills. When the bells come back in after the “we’ll do it for our fathers, we’ll do it for our mothers, we’ll do it for our sisters, we’ll do it for our brothers” line, it just brings it back so well.

Anyway, I reccomend checking out these guys. The guys also have that perfected pop sound that I seem to be really getting into of late. They’re playing a show with Midlake in a few days time in ol’ London town before heading over to Austin, Texas to play SXSW in March. Great lead up for the album release in April I reckon. I’ll leave you with the opening single, SDP.
